BBFC may have refused to rate it, but Network is proudly releasing Who Killed Teddy Bear on DVD.
The taboo-breaking thriller was originally released in 1965 but without a rating, the film was subsequently not seen anywhere in the UK.
Comedian Jan Murray is cast against her usual role, as a messed up lieutenant attempting to track down a depraved sex maniac, when a female DJ starts receiving a series of disturbing obscene phone calls.
Sal Mineo plays a bodybuilding, pornography addicted bus-boy in a career-defining performance. Elaine Stritch and Juliet Prowse also excel, as Lesbian nightclub owner and victimised DJ. Oscar-nominated Joseph Brun showcases his truly magnificent cinematography skills through breathtaking New York landscapes.
In Black and White as originally intended, the DVD captures the seediness of the one banned film, retaining all the power of shock and energy that one would have grasped an audience, if only the BBFC has let it.
Who Killed Teddy Bear will be released for the first time in the UK on DVD on January 26th 2009.
