The turn of events which saw Florida in the news worldwide is explored throughout the 36-day dispute that would determine who would become the 43rd President of the United States.

RECOUNT is being released by HBO Home Entertainment on 19 January 2009 the day before Barrack Obama is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America. The film focuses on the 2000 election campaigns of Al Gore and George W. Bush battle the recount of âbutterfly ballotsâ in Florida to settle the presidency of the United States. Mixing news footage and verbatim dialogue into fictionalised re-creations, the film pulls back the veil on the headlines and explores the behind-the-scenes human drama involved in the emotional roller coaster ride that would determine the leadership of the USA.
RECOUNT stars Kevin Spacey, two-time Oscar® nominee Tom Wilkinson (In the Bedroom, Michael Clayton), Emmy® nominee Denis Leary (Rescue Me), Oscar® nominee Laura Dern (Rambling Rose), Bob Balaban (Gosford Park), two-time Oscar® nominee John Hurt (Midnight Express), Bruce McGill (HBOâs Live from Baghdad) and Emmy® nominee Ed Begley Jr. (St. Elsewhere).
