My Name Is Khan is one of the most highly anticipated motion pictures of 2010!
From the Indian Powerhouse director Karan Johar comes the stunningly filmed, touching love story, starring two of the world’s biggest stars, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol Devgan.
Khan stars as Rizwan Kahn, a Muslim from Mumbai, who suffers from Aspergers syndrome. He moves to San Francisco to live with his previously estranged brother, and soon marries Mandira (Devgan), a Hindu single mother, despite his brother’s protests.
After the 9/11 disaster racial tension grows in his community, which leads to the death of Mandira’s son, who had taken the name Khan when they married. Mandira in turn blames Khan, and sends him across the United States to attempt to meet the president and clear his family’s name.
While on his amazing journey, the authorities mistake Kahn’s disabilities and religion for ‘suspicious behaviour’ and he is arrested.
Khan must prove to everyone that he is an innocent man and win back the woman he loves before it’s too late...
Karan Johar has received the Muslim Public Affairs Council Award for My Name Is Khan in Los Angeles. MPAC has awarded the film and the director, celebrating the spirit of the film.
The awards were handed out at the 19th Annual Voices of Courage and Conscience Media Award in LA.
My Name Is Khan is released on DVD 28th June.
