This ancient and crumbling castle invokes the troubled maritime and smuggling history of Cornwall. It is said to be built on the site of a Tudor Manor around 1500 and plays host to ghost sightings of sailors and monks, ‘Edinburgh Vaults’.
A worldly haunt of the city's rogues, villains, prostitutes and murderers. The vaults were sealed off and completely abandoned in 1815 and weren't rediscovered until 1985 - and since then, numerous ghostly sightings and experiences have been reported, ‘Schooner Hotel’ A listed 17th Century Coaching Inn and the hub of Alnmouth village for the past 300 years.
Guests have included Charles Dickens, Basil Rathbone, Douglas Bader and even King George III. It has been twice awarded The Most Haunted Hotel in Great Britain and is reputed to have over 60 individual ghosts.
Each episode features both paranormal and scientific explanations for the various phenomena that occur. Any information provided by the medium from claimed interactions with spirits is then analysed by the historian to see if it can be verified.
