Max Payne is just the latest in a long line of computer games that have been given the big screen Hollywood makeover with Tomb Raider and Hitman just two in recent years.

However the computer game movie has not had much luck but with Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg was all that about to change... er no!

Max Payne tells the story of a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner.

Hell-bent on revenge, his obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmare journey into a dark underworld.

As the mystery deepens, Max (Wahlberg) is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal.

2008 really wasn't a good year for Wahlberg, in terms of movie choices, as he follows up The Happening with the god awful Max Payne which really will leave you asking what the hell was he thinking?

The script is badly written and makes zero sense and although Wahlberg's performance isn't bad he just doesn't have anything to get his teeth into and this is a real shame as this could have been the beginning of a dark and gritty franchise.

The movie's characters are so one dimensional that you struggle to just sit and watch them never mind give two hoots about what happens to them and Moore seems more content on shooting scantly clad women and slow motion action shots that being half decent characters.

There is quite simply nothing positive that can be said for this film it's dull, it's unoriginal and you will be praying of the credits after a painful one hundred minutes of mind-numbing 'action'.

It's hard to believe that an actor of Wahlberg's caliber saw potential in this paper thin script and his string of poor leading man roles continues.

Max Payne is released On DVD 3rd March
