After taking the US and now the UK by storm this year, brand new Living drama Lipstick Jungle, starring Brooke Shields is available to own on DVD courtesy of Universal Playback. Filling the void left by Sex and the City and based on the same author - Candace Bushnellâs - best selling book, this sexy, enticing new drama follows three high-powered friends as they work out how to juggle their families, sex lives, affairs, high-powered business deals and scandals whilst still looking fabulous and being at the top of the career food chain. Wendy Healy (Brooke Shields), Nico Reilly (Kim Raver, 24) and Victory Ford (Lindsay Price, Beverly Hills 90210) are three fabulous women who are holding their own in a manâs world, supporting each other through the New York lipstick jungle that is their domain.
The show famously beat rival show Cashmere Mafia in the US ratings this year in what was dubbed as the Cashmere Wars â Lipstick Jungle was the only show to be picked up for a second series which is currently in production in New York.
Movie executive Wendy Healy (Shields) does everything she can to balance her career and family, but stay at home husband Shane (Paul Blackthorne, 24, The Dresden Files, Big Shots) is struggling with his role in the equation, wanting to be more than just Wendy Healyâs husband.
The top executive at Parador Pictures, Wendy is also a mother, a wife, a best friend and a consummate professional, running between finding new schools for her children, stopping rogue former nannies from selling âtheir storyâ, sealing a film deal with the likes of Leonardo Di Caprio and making her husband feel like heâs actually the one wearing the trousers.
Nico Reilly (Raver) is the editor-in-chief of hot new fashion magazine Bonfire magazine, and runs a very tight ship and struggles to keep from being stabbed in the back by ambitious colleagues. A no-nonsense businesswoman who can hang with the best of the boys club, she is also very much a staple part of her high-powered girlfriendsâ lives. Her marriage is coasting along, with her husband Charles becoming increasingly inattentive, so she unexpectedly starts an affair with young, hot photographerâs assistant, Kirby Atwood (Robert Buckley). Their first liaison, in the bathroom at one of Bonfire magazineâs events, results in Kirby leaving his mark on her in a very unique and hot way; his telephone number written on her thigh.
New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and designer Victory Ford (Price) is ready to reclaim her title as the 'It" designer, but reviews such as "out with the old, in with the ew" donât help her cause. Romance is on the up, as billionaire Joe Bennet (Andrew McCarthy, The Joy Luck Club, St Elmoâs Fire) romances her in his own inimitable way â with his secretary asking her out for him. Despite telling herself she wonât like him, she finds his charming arrogance enticing, and even submits to his help when a business meeting in Japan doesnât go as planned â sending her his private jet, and a cupcake to cheer her up.
The seven-part series is out on DVD on 26th December 2008 courtesy of Universal Playback, showing the ladies competing in a manâs world, whilst still dressing accordinglyâ¦
