On January 15th 1974, 15 year old Charlie Otero’s life was destroyed. He came home from school to find his parents and two of his younger siblings murdered in their own home.
He didn’t know it at the time but the Otero’s were the first victims of the serial killer who called himself B.T.K. (Bind. Torture. Kill).
Charlie’s story is one which eventually culminated with the arrest; conviction and imprisonment of a man named Dennis Rader 30 years after the Otero’s were murdered bringing a reign of terror that spanned three decades to an end.
Rader had committed many more murders and taunted the police and community of Wichita, Kansas throughout the 70’s and 80’s.
Told through the eyes of the oldest, surviving son of B.T.K.’s first victims, this is a unique, but horrific, take on the notorious Strangler’s mystery.
Charlie is more than a living victim and we follow his story from despair to rebuilding his life.
This true life exposé documentary about Charlie and his lifelong search for justice is a harrowing portrayal of the devastating effects of one man’s murderous actions.
I Survived B.T.K. is out on DVD from the 21st February 2011 (RRP £12.99).
