Starring:  Dwayne Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Carla Gugino, Moon Bloodgood
Director: George Tillman Jr
Rating: 2.5/5

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is back with his latest offering Faster which, despite being a tad predictable is a pretty decent ride if you accept it for what it is.

After 10 years in prison, Driver has a singular focus - to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his imprisonment.

Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he's finally on his mission... but with two men on his trail - a veteran cop just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hitman with a flair for the art of killing and a newfound worthy opponent.

The hunter is also the hunted. It's a do or die race to the list's finish as they mystery surrounding his brother's murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver's list may be incomplete.

Faster is a movie about revenge, redemption and killing lots of people - it does exactly what is says on the tin and never pretends to be anything more than what it is.

Johnson plays the brooding ant-hero well as he finds himself on a quest to kill those who killed his brother a decade earlier.

Ok so there are not many lines for Johnson but it’s his sheer presence that has a real impact - he is a man who wears his guilt and pain like a jacket.

Faster is packed with high paced car chases as well as exciting shoot outs and the plot take a couple of good little twists and turns.

While the movie may lack originality it really is an entertaining revenge thriller that works incredibly well with some interesting character and helps pass a couple of hours.

Faster is out on DVD now.
