Succeeding the immensely popular TV series Doctor in the House, DOCTOR AT LARGE THE COMPLETE SERIES (PG) once again chronicles the fates and fortunes of Michael Upton (Barry Evans Crossroads) and his medical friends, now starting out in their practices as newly qualified doctors. Network will release this entertaining series containing all 29 episodes, in a four-disc set on 28th May 2007.DOCTOR AT LARGE THE COMPLETE SERIES (PG) was a huge hit for ITV on its original broadcast in 1971, which was due in no small part to the quality of the writing. Eminent comedy writers including Bill Oddie, John Cleese, Graeme Garden, Graham Chapman and Jonathan Lynn all contributed to hilarious scripts which enticed large numbers of viewers. One particular episode, written by John Cleese and featuring a manic, ill-mannered hotelier went on to become the prototype for one of Cleeses most legendary characters Basil Fawlty. The pitfalls of Upton and his friends coupled with the strength of the written material allowed DOCTOR AT LARGE THE COMPLETE SERIES (PG) to attract a host of high profile guest stars including some true comedy greats. These included Arthur Lowe, Patricia Routledge, Hattie Jacques, Mollie Sugden, Maureen Lipman and Roy Kinnear, bringing a timeless quality to these medical misdaventures.
