Dave Gorman: Stand-Up DVD

Dave Gorman: Stand-Up DVD

Dave Gorman - acclaimed storyteller, intrepid comedian and writer and star of BBC TWO’s  Genius brings his brand new live show to DVD on 18th October 2010.

Recorded at the prestigious Bloomsbury Theatre during his twice-extended Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop And Stand-Up sell-out tour,  Dave Gorman: Stand-Up. Live is released by Digital Stores.

Dave Gorman: Stand-Up. Live sees Dave go back to his roots as a straight-up, one-man-and-a-mic stand-up.  With his distinctive storytelling style, he innovatively and inventively brings to life his own insights and experiences, in a show which sees him: offer a lesson on ‘The Evolution of the Honey Monster’ - scientifically proving that he’s the strongest monster of all time; weigh up the social and unsociable aspects of mathematics and why that ultimately led to the end of his university career; and explain how to have the most fun with just 50 pence, a postcard, and a stamp.  Not forgetting the postman, of course.

The DVD also sees Dave: delve into tales from his childhood, revealing why his folks can be amazing yet so frustrating; consider how essential Essential Oils actually are; and contemplate The World of Advertising drawing on his own subtle version of subliminal advertising.

The show also premiers ‘The Good People of Blooms-Buricus’, a play written and directed by Dave Gorman, which is brought to life by the entire Bloomsbury Theatre audience.

Dave Gorman has established himself as one of the UK’s biggest comedians.  Acclaimed as the pioneer of documentary comedy, he is also a hugely successful stand-up, author and broadcaster and the last eighteen months alone has seen him: transfer his hit BBC Radio 4 show Genius to BBC TWO, which is currently in its second series; present his own Sunday morning show for Absolute Radio; release a podcast based on that Absolute Radio show which reached number one in the iTunes charts - a first for a commercial radio show - and was subsequently named one of iTunes Best Podcasts of 2009; and return to stand-up with the 70-date Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop and Stand Up Tour, a complete sell-out success which saw him cycle over 1500 miles across Britain in 33 days and perform a gig each night.
