Come Rain Come Shine is a moving contemporary drama following one man’s determination to keep his family afloat, emotionally and financially, after they lose everything.
Cockney ex-docker Don (Sir David Jason) is a proud father and husband. Married to Dora (Alison Steadman), the retired couple have two grown up children, David and Joanne.
With Bentleys and flash cars on the driveway, property developer David (Shaun Evans), has carved himself out a conceited lifestyle. With his big detached home nestled in a quiet idyllic cul-de-sac, elegant wife, Christina, and young son, Cameron, his life contrasts vividly with that of his working class upbringing and the simple lifestyle and family values his father holds.
Joanne (Kelly Bright), on the other hand, is struggling to hold everything together as a single parent and is estranged from her wealthy brother.
The cracks soon appear as David is teetering on the brink of financial meltdown. Blissfully ignorant of his son’s crisis, Don views David through rose-tinted spectacles. Meanwhile, Dora is more realistic and questions her son’s affluent lifestyle.
