Fabrice (Roger Nsengiyumva) thinks of nothing but football. When a talent scout spots his potential and offers him the opportunity to show off his skills as part of the opening ceremony of The World Cup in South Africa, all his dreams come true - all that stands between him and his goal is 3000 miles.
Fabrice’s best friend Dudu (Eriya Ndayambaje) isn’t going to let a thing like distance get in their way and the pair, joined by Dudu’s little sister Beatrice (Sanyu Joanita Kintu), set off on an epic journey across seven African countries with just a World Cup wall chart to guide them!
Using a lot of ingenuity and sass the three friends walk across the endless horizons of Africa gathering a tribe of unlikely heroes along the way.
With the help of their new found friends, Fabrice, Dudu and Beatrice, negotiate a series of dangerous, hilarious and often bizarre situations and will, with a little luck, make it to the biggest football event in the world.
Despite the hardships that the group of young travellers face, Africa United shows the joy, laughter and most of all hope – ‘the ubuntu’ – that comes from making an incredible journey together.
Africa United, the first feature film from director Debs Gardner-Paterson, is perfect for the whole family to enjoy and treasure, don’t miss it when it is released on 28 February 2011.
