A Single Man DVD

A Single Man, the highly anticipated debut feature from Tom Ford, and starring BAFTA® winner Colin Firth will be released on DVD and Blu-ray by Icon Home Entertainment on 7 June 2010. This follows its hugely successful theatrical run and a collection of awards from across the globe.

The DVD equivalent of the coffee table design book, A Single Man is an essential addition to any self respecting film fans collection. Special features on both formats include cast and crew interviews and a commentary by director Tom Ford.

Firth is joined by Matthew Goode (Watchmen, Leap Year) and Nicholas Hoult (Skins, About a Boy) and four time Academy Award® nominee Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights, Far From Heaven).

Director Ford, also cast one of his regular male models in Jon Kortajarena who Forbes magazine ranked in their top ten most successful male models list and is known for his chiselled cheekbones and piercing eyes.

Set in Los Angeles in 1962, at the height of the Cuban missile crisis, A Single Man is the story of George Falconer, a 52 year old British college professor (Firth) who is struggling to find meaning to his life after the death of his long time partner, Jim (Goode).

George dwells on the past and cannot see his future as we follow him through a single day, where a series of events and encounters, ultimately leads him to decide if there is a meaning to life after Jim.

George is consoled by his closest friend Charley (Moore), a 48-year-old beauty who is wrestling with her own questions about the future.

A young student of George’s, Kenny (Hoult), who is coming to terms with his true nature, senses a kindred spirit in George and pursues his attentions.

A Single Man is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human condition, and ultimately the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life.

Based upon the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood, (published by Vintage Classics) and directed by fashion icon Tom Ford.

With stunningly memorable production design by Dan Bishop, the genius behind the look of Mad Men, spectacularly shot by cinematographer Eduard Grau, A Single Man is a sumptuous and moving experience.
