National Help a Horse Day: What does it mean to dream about a horse?

If you were riding a horse in your dream, then you may be in a position of power or authority right now- or you are close to achieving it. However, this is also a sign that you might have got there via the easy route rather than putting in the hard work.

If the horse you were riding was out of control then you may be getting carried away with something in your waking life and you need to rein it in before it’s impossible to fix.

If there was a herd of wild horses in your sleep state then you may feel a sense of freedom if you have just left a bad relationship, a job that made you unhappy or a toxic friendship. You might feel that your responsibilities and duties have been temporarily lifted.

Pay attention to the colour of the horse- if it was black then your life might have taken a wild turn lately and you may need to tone it down or tame your desires to make it more manageable. It’s also synonymous with the unknown so perhaps you have just begun a new journey in your personal or professional life and don’t know where it might take you.

If the horse was white, this refers to purity- do you need to cleanse some area of your life and start with a blank canvas? Or is someone misinterpreting your good intentions? Are you being too arrogant in your waking world and need to ‘get off your high horse’? Is this attitude affecting your working and personal relationships? If so it might be time to level with the people you have been looking down on.

Horses generally conjure up associations of strength, power and endurance- so maybe you need to channel your inner strength in order to get through a situation in your waking life. It’s in there somewhere- you just need to find it.

It’s possible you are working hard towards something right now and your subconscious is telling you to push ahead and keep going- that you will get there eventually- don’t lose faith.

The dream could simply be telling you to stop horsing around. It’s fine to have a laugh and joke, however now may not be the best time to be foolish. On the other end of the spectrum, if you have been taking things very seriously lately, maybe to horse around is just what you need. Only you know what is most appropriate for you at this time.
