During 2012, explore Eight Centuries and Eight Wonders at the Minster, through trails, talks, tours, and special exhibitions in the Old Palace. Visitors can join in via social media or ask an expert in a Curator’s Talk or behind-the-scenes Tour.
A dedicated microsite hhttp://wonders.yorkminster.org (from March 2012) will provide visitors with podcasts, curious ‘Number 8 Minster Facts’ and downloadable activities.
The campaign is being organised in conjunction with the city’s York800 celebrations and Yorkshire Museum’s 1212: The Making of the City exhibition.
Running from February to September, each of the eight months will focus on a century of history between 1212 - 2012, highlighting a Minster ‘Wonder’ from that century that people can visit and which demonstrate York Minster’s role in the making of the city over the last eight centuries.
Special ticket offers during York800
York Minster will be offering a Joint 1212 admission ticket with Yorkshire Museum from Easter 2012. York Minster’s medieval collection will be highlighted in the new exhibition at Yorkshire Museum opening April 2012 (see next story).
