Christopher Martin is famously known as the lead singer of the British Rock band, Coldplay. He was born in 1977 in Exeter, Devon and is the eldest of five children. His father is an accountant and his mother a music teacher and it was when he attended school that he found his love for music. He formed his first band whilst attending prep school and he met his manager Phil Harvey when he attended a school in Dorset. Martin studied at the University College London and graduated with first class honours. It is there that he met his future band mates and Coldplay was formed in 1998, with the original title Starfish. After the release of their album Parachutes in 2000 they became an international success. Since then they have released four successful albums and have toured the world. Chris has also done some solo work in the music business including writing songs for Jamelia, collaborations with Kanye West, Nelly Furtado and Jay Z. He is married to the actress Gwyneth Paltrow and they have a nine year old daughter Apple Martin and a seven year old son Moses Martin.
