How do you feel about returning to the Big Brother House?
It hasn’t sunk in yet. Because it had such a massive effect on my life the first time it’s like a recurring dream and nightmare all rolled in to one. Until I’m in there I won’t feel like it’s happening again. It’s the last ever one and it’s such an honour to be part of what will hopefully be one big celebration.
Why are you doing it?
It’s a twice in a lifetime opportunity. No part of me wanted to say no. It is a mad thing being offered it. The first time was so positive but because of my marriage to Chantelle all in the press it darkened it, soured it. This is closure. I hope it is like last time, without signing a marriage certificate at the end.
There are rumours that Chantelle is going in too. How do you feel about that?
I don’t imagine I would be asked to do it if she wasn’t. I am very much looking forward to seeing her. It will be more of a Bromance this time with less of the signing of legal documents at the end.
What do you think of Big Brother?
It is a generation defining programme, in both a good and a bad way. It started reality TV but the show has stayed true to itself. It is such an important part of my life it is nice to go down with the ship.
Do you think Big Brother is tougher than it used to be?
No, it is always tough. As long as you can see the fun in it then it is ok, except for the Sword of Damocles hanging over you; being nominated by your fellow housemates.
This year everyone is so nice, I hope it continues. Josie is irrepressibly nice and I think it affects the whole house. I always think there is such a contrast between the VTs of people going in and the ‘best bits’ when they come out. When you watch the housemates are like friends. When it ends I will miss housemates like Maxwell and Saskia.
What about other UBB housemates, who would you like in the house with you?
Siavash, he is interesting. Pete Burns, Michael Barrymore. I would hate John McCririck as he snores and I have problems sleeping but I have brought earplugs and an eye mask with me. I am slightly terrified of the party animal ones you see falling out of night clubs.
You have done this before, do you have a plan on how to win?
It’s pointless going in there with a plan. There are strong characters and people more deserving than I who should win it. I just want to have fun. If I do have an ulterior motive it is to put the past behind me and start again. And that I’d like people to see I am normal and nice.
Last time I was trying to be a popstar, and I love my job now. I don’t want to change my life and whatever happens I know I can go back to it afterwards unscathed.
Who is your Ultimate Big Brother Housemate?
It shouldn’t be a celebrity. I think the best housemates are always the ones who have a journey or a great story. Like Pete with his Tourettes or even Chantelle and her going into CBB and then winning it and becoming an actual celebrity. So whoever wins Big Brother 11 and then gets to come into Ultimate Big Brother surely they will have that story and should be the winner?
