How's training going for the Olympics?
It’s going really well and we’re hitting all of our goals leading up to the Olympics by training hard and being really focused.
What sort of training regime are you going through at the minute?
Well…from 7-8am we are in the gym for a warm up, here we focus on core, flexibility exercises and Pilates which is great for keeping muscles lean as often the gym can bulk you up too much. From 8-9:30am we do some speed swimming and then from 9:30-1:30pm we spend time in the water doing syncro; working on both the technical aspects and physical endurance. After lunch we are then back in the pool from 2:30-5pm, perfecting the routine. Sometimes we will do two hours of strengthening and conditioning after this – then done!
What's your workout must-haves?
I hate running, I much prefer the cross trainer and it gets rid of those love handles! We use a lot of free weights. I also use reformer which is a Pilates machine; it works the whole body but mainly the core which is really important in syncro
What's your ultimate fitness tip?
Swimming for 30 minutes a day as it tones your whole body. I hate getting sweating so it is a perfect way to exercise whilst feeling fresh
What's your ultimate beauty tip?
We use this amazing product called Swim Spray which has been specifically designed to get rid of chlorine and that chlorine smell. It’s such a great product and can be used on both hair and skin when you get out of the pool
On to beauty now, what's your beauty regime?
I use Elizabeth Arden’s Eight hour cream on my face and body to keep them hydrated as the chlorine can really dry out my skin and I put Vaseline on my eye lashes at night as it makes them grow longer and fuller. I also always Dermalogica Cleanser & Toner – This brand works really well with my skin type, especially if I have a few spot break outs. Their Overnight Repair Serum really freshens up my skin before a big event. My favourite make up products would have to be Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara which gives me lovely long lashes and Victoria Secret lip plumper as I like having fuller lips
Which three products could you no live without?
Braun Silk-épil Xpressive Pro Epilator – As my legs are always on display, hair removal is so important and this epilator is my favourite beauty product. It gives me long-lasting soft skin for up to four weeks, which is perfect for me as sometimes competitions can last over 10 days so it means I never have to worry about hair removal. I can also use it in water which helps reduce any discomfort – it’s addictive!
Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer – It’s a great for making sure my concealer and eye shadow stays on, even in the water. I always use this when I’m competing
St Tropez – I use their Everyday Gradual tan moisturiser which easy to apply and non-streaky. Tanning helps show off muscle definition so it makes us look good in the pool when we’re competing
