The 'Pillowtalk' hitmaker was due to perform in Saitama next month but a "change in the recording schedule" for his new album has forced him to reschedule the date for June 2017 at another venue in Yokohama.

A statement released by the promoter reads: "Due to a change in the recording schedule of the new album, Zayn's show at Saitama Super Arena on January 14 has been rescheduled to new dates and venues. And we have added a new show in Osaka ...

"Due to the venue change, for all those who purchased tickets to the Saitama show, the ticket will be refunded via the official ticket agency that you purchased the ticket from. For the rescheduled date, we will have a special pre-sale period from February 1 to February 9 for those of you who purchased tickets for the January/Saitama show. Further details will be announced later. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused."

Zayn will now perform at Yokohama Arena on June 18 as well as Osaka-jo Hall in the Kyobashi area of Osaka, Japan on June 19.

It is not the first live show Zayn has had to miss after he pulled out of a gig in October due to "extreme anxiety".

In a statement released at the time, he said: "Dear Fans, I have been working over the last three months to overcome my extreme anxiety around major live solo performances I feel I am making progress but I have today acknowledged that I do not feel sufficiently confident to move forward with the planned show in Dubai in October.

"I am truly sorry to disappoint you. I hope to see you all soon. Thank you to all my fans who support me globally. With love and respect always, Zayn."

Before that, Zayn had also pulled out of his first solo gig in the UK since he left One Direction, citing anxiety.

He said at the time: "I flew into the UK last night to appear in my home country in front of my family, friends, and most importantly my UK fans. Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me."
