The 'Pillowtalk' singer - who recently pulled out of a gig in Dubai because of his problem - has been relying on his girlfriend for support as her positive attitude helps him to relax and she can ease his fears better than anyone.

A source said: "Gigi has a very calming affect on Zayn and will spend hours on the phone with him when he is having a bad day. She will remind him to take deep breaths and to do those things that relax him like drawing or painting. She does worry about him, but never shows it. She just stays as positive as she can when she's helping him calm down."

If Gigi isn't available for Zayn, he is still in her thoughts and the 21-year-old beauty sends motivational messages to the 23-year-old pop star as another means of support.

The insider added to HollywoodLife.com: "Gigi has been doing everything she can to help Zayn overcome his anxiety and panic attacks. She is constantly giving him reassurance that he is safe and nothing bad is going to happen to him. When she's away from Zayn, she texts him inspirational quotes from Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer."

Zayn announced on Tuesday (06.09.16) that his "extreme anxiety" has forced him to pull out of a show in Dubai next month.

He said in a statement: "Dear Fans, I have been working over the last three months to overcome my extreme anxiety around major live solo performances I feel I am making progress but I have today acknowledged that I do not feel sufficiently confident to move forward with the planned show in Dubai in October.

"I am assured that all tickets will be refunded.

"I am truly sorry to disappoint you. I hope to see you all soon.

"Thank you to all my fans who support me globally.

"With love and respect always, Zayn."

This isn't the first time Zayn's anxiety has caused him to scrap a gig.

In June, he was due to perform his first UK gig since leaving One Direction at the Capital FM Summertime Ball in London but pulled out at the last minute.
