William Shatner is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
The 90-year-old actor - who is best known for playing Captain James T. Kirk in the 'Star Trek' franchise - is poised to join the Celebrity Wing of the Hall of Fame.
Comparing professional wrestling to his 'Star Trek' career, he told USA Today: "It’s very much the same, the approbation, the joy. The enthusiasm the wrestling audience shows toward its favourite people is not dissimilar to the enthusiasm 'Star Trek' fans show."
William also joked he should have become a full-time wrestler after he left the iconic sci-fi franchise.
He quipped: "I’m going to admit it now. I missed a career when 'Star Trek' was over. I should have gone into wrestling as Captain Kirk."
The actor first appeared in the WWE in 1995, when he was a special guest on Jerry 'The King' Lawler’s King’s Court. During his debut appearance, he sent The King flying with a monkey flip.
One week later, William returned on 'Raw' and appeared in the corner of Bret 'Hit Man' Hart during a fight with Jeff Jarrett.
Then, in 2010, he returned to the WWE as a special guest host and he used the opportunity to put his own twist on some popular theme songs.
Asked how he compared to the larger-then-life WWE stars, he replied: "I am not larger than life. I’m life itself. OK?"
The iconic actor will be induced into the Hall of Fame on April 6.
Meanwhile, William recently admitted he's "never watched" an episode of 'Star Trek'.
The veteran star revealed he finds it too "painful" to see himself on screen.
He said: "I have never watched 'Star Trek'. There are many episodes I don't know, there are some movies I don't know...
"I directed one of the movies - No. 5 - I had to watch that one. But it's all painful because I don't like the way I look and what I do."
