Whoopi Goldberg doesn't want to marry again because she likes living on her own.
The 60-year-old actress has been down the aisle three times in the past -in 1973, to Alvin Martin, 1986 to David Claessen, and 1994 to Lyle Trachtenberg - and though her last marriage ended in 1995, she is "not that interested" in tying the knot for a fourth time.
She told the New York Times magazine: "I'm much happier on my own. I can spend as much time with somebody as I want to spend, but I'm not looking to be with somebody forever or live with someone. I don't want somebody in my house."
Asked if she'd always felt that way, she added: "Yes. I'm the round peg, and marriage is the square hole. You can't have a square hole, can you?"
The 'Ghost' star has spoken openly in the past about battling drug addiction, but these days she smokes marijuana purely for medicinal purposes.
She said: "There's a big difference. If I want to get high, I can go do that at any time. It's about treating my (eye condition) glaucoma."
Whoopi has her own line of non-smokable medical-cannabis products that help women with menstrual pain, and though the venture has proven to be a success, she was initially "laughed at" when she proposed the range.
She said: "A friend of mine was talking about a few famous people launching marijuana lines, and I asked if anyone was doing a menstrual line, and they laughed at me. They called it a niche market. But the niche market is half the population on Earth."
As well as her successful acting career, Whoopi is also a panellist on daytime talk show 'The View' and she admits it is frustrating that she and her female co-hosts are always portrayed as arguing on the programme.
She said: "Every time people talk about 'The View', they talk about this idea that women can't have these conversations without fighting. We're five to eight women who have lots of different opinions, and we don't always agree! But that's life.
"We don't fight. But it's kind of crazy, because [the media] don't talk about men that way. They only say that about women."
