Whitney Port "made the first move" with her fiance Tim Rosenman because she knew he wouldn't approach her.
The 30-year-old fashion designer is preparing to marry Tim Rosenman but doesn't think they would ever have started dating if she hadn't asked him out because, as a producer on 'The City', he wasn't willing to "cross that line" and approach her.
She said: "I definitely made the first move. I got his phone number and made up some excuse why I needed to reach him for something.
"I kind of felt he was never gonna try it with me. He's not shy but I know in his past with girls he had difficulty making the first move.
"And I know, because of our jobs - because I was the talent and he was the producer - he wasn't going to cross that line. It had to be me, you know."
Though the pair were "close" while working on the show, Whitney insists their relationship didn't turn romantic until later.
She said: " We got really close while we were on the show but didn't start dating until after."
Whitney turned 30 last month and admits reaching the milestone has made her more responsible.
She told HELLO! Fashion Monthly magazine: "Once you get older you start to look back on things and you become a lot more appreciative.
"You start to live your life responsibly and take in every moment."
