Wendy Williams is taking time away from work after the death of her mother.
The 56-year-old talk show host revealed earlier this week that her mother, Shirley Skinner Williams, had tragically passed away “many weeks ago”, and it has now been confirmed she will take some time away from her eponymously titled talk show to cope with the loss.
Debmar-Mercury, the production company behind her talk show, announced Friday (11.12.20) that next week ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ would air repeats to “allow Wendy to travel and be with her family at this time”.
The show will return with new episodes on January 4.
A statement from the company concluded: “Debmar-Mercury extends its deepest condolences to Wendy and her family.”
Wendy revealed the sad news on Monday’s (07.12.20) episode of her show, and whilst she didn’t confirm her mother’s cause of death, she did say she died “beautifully and peacefully and surrounded by love”.
She said: “You know how you lose track of the day and time? All I know was it was a long time ago. The five of us, my mom, dad, my siblings, the five of us – she will always be here.
“She died beautifully and peacefully and surrounded by love. She didn’t suffer, thank God. Gone is the best mother, the best girlfriend that a girl could ever have.”
Meanwhile, Wendy recently revealed she lost 25 pounds in quarantine, after the taste of food became "disgusting" to her.
She said: "I didn't do it on purpose, it’s just that food became disgusting to me. I was cooking at first and it was all good, I was shovelling stuff in my mouth. Everything from hot dogs to lobster, but then it became I'm done with food. I haven't weighed this little since high school. I feel really good, but I'm just alone in my romance."
