Victoria Wood was laid to rest in a "light-hearted and celebratory" private ceremony on Wednesday (04.05.16).
Close family and friends of the late comedienne - who tragically passed away last month after a short battle with an aggressive form of cancer at the age of 62 - gathered to pay their respects to the 'Dinnerladies' star.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "It was a very small and private funeral, which is exactly what Victoria would have wanted. The family were very conscious that they didn't want cameras there and were happy that was the case. Julie Walters was one of her close friends from the entertainment industry who attended.
"Even though everyone is incredibly grief stricken, it was very important that there was a very strong element of humour, jokes and laughter throughout because everyone knew that's what she wanted. At the end of the day she is someone who spent her life making people laugh and it was appropriate that light-hearted and celebratory overall tone of the day. The service was full of laughter."
Julie Walters was just one of the attendees at the service at Golders Green Crematorium in north London, whilst Victoria's children Grace, 27 and Henry, 23, and her ex-husband Geoffrey Durham also came to pay their respects.
Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that the family were planning a "very intimate" funeral but were hoping to have a "bigger memorial service" later.
An insider said at the time: "The funeral arrangements haven't been finalised yet, but she has always made it clear that she doesn't crave publicity or fanfare, and the expectation is that her funeral will be a very intimate affair with only her very closest family there.
"It may even just be her children, and potentially her former partner, with a bigger memorial service to follow at a later stage. Her family know what she wanted - and although there is a huge outpouring of grief from the world of comedy and showbusiness, they wouldn't want to turn this into something that might have made her uncomfortable."
