Tom Hanks says Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s feud sounds like “fighting talk”.
The ‘Forrest Gump’ actor, 67, made the remark after he texted his actor son Chet Hanks, 33, to ask him why the rappers are at war – after the pair exchanged a series of “diss tracks” that led to Drake denying Kendrick’s accusation in one of the songs he was a “certified paedophile”.
Tom’s query came to light after Chet – who his dad calls ‘Big Main’ – posted a screenshot on his Instagram Stories of a text exchange with his “pops” about the rappers’ battle.
Chet joking wrote a huge reply to his dad after he asked him why they were fighting, saying Kendrick, 36, “initiated the beef” and said Drake, 37, had slammed his rival’s “small feet” and called him a “deadbeat” dad to his son Adonis, six, who he has with 34-year-old painter Sophie Brussaux.
The actor added in his reply to Tom: “Drake came back and was like, ‘Oh yeah? Well I heard you beat your wife’, but literally 30 seconds later Kendrick put out a diss overshadowing Drake’s diss where he pretty much methodically dismantled Drake’s entire psyche and called him a paedophile for flirting with young girls.”
Chet also said one of Kendrick’s diss tracks was the musical equivalent of the time he and Tom attended a high school basketball game at his dad’s old school.
He added: “That was pretty much the sonic equivalent of (that visit.)
“Like if you heard it you would just automatically know how to Crip walk with a stank face while clutching an Oscar in each hand with Marshawn Lynch, then dap him up and tell him ‘Town Bidness’ which solidified the win not only for Kendrick but the entire West Coast.”
Tom replied: “Holy cow! These are fighting words.”
When the actor then asked Chet who was “winning” in the feud, his son replied: “Did you not just read what I said?”
Drake earlier this month denied rumours he has slept with underage girls after Kendrick branded him a paedophile on a diss track in the wake of tales from the likes of ‘Stranger Things’ actress Millie Bobby Brown, 20, who said Drake once texted her when she was only 14.
Drake said in his rap response, released online his name was not one “you gon’ see on (any) sex offender list”.
He also used his five-minute track to deny Kendrick’s claim he has a secret daughter.
It comes after Drake released the three-part ‘Family Matters’ diss track on 4 May, in which he accused Kendrick of hypocrisy over his race activism and accused him of domestic violence.
Drake also said the rapper had been “begging” the estate of the late Tupac Shakur to order him to remove a previous diss track aimed at Kendrick that featured an AI version of the murdered musician’s voice.
Kendrick hit back at the song and the accusations within minutes of its release, with his ‘Meet The Grahams’ track accusing Drake of being a secret dad and of being addicted to drugs, drink, gambling, sex and shopping.
