Taylor Swift reduced a groom to a "10-year-old fanboy" when she made a surprise appearance at his wedding over the weekend.
The 26-year-old singer delighted Max Singer and his new wife Kenya Smith when she showed up unannounced to perform a stripped-back version of her hit 'Blank Space' during their celebrations at the Brant Beach Yacht Club in Brant Beach, New Jersey, and her lifelong fan admitted he had "no idea" about the famous guest until she walked in the room.
He told 'Access Hollywood': "I had no idea until the second she actually walked in and I reacted like a little 10-year-old fanboy rather than a grown man [laughs]."
The wheels were set in motion for the performance in April when Max's sister Ali wrote to Taylor - who recently split from Calvin Harris after over a year of dating - to tell her about the death of her mother, how the couple had wed in hospital before she passed away so their mom wouldn't miss out on the big day, and the groom even danced with his sick parent to 'Blank Space'.
And Max knew straight away his sister had to have been involved in getting his idol to the wedding.
He recalled: "We thought we were about to start having dinner because the toasts were over, but then [Taylor] literally walked in at that exact moment. As it was happening, I just looked at [Ali] and she had that, like, smile like she knew what was going on. And I clearly didn't, so I knew she had to have something to do with it."
Also involved in the surprise was a friend, Morgan, who used Max's business school essay about Taylor's '1989' album to help get the singer on board.
Max said: "I had sent that essay and [Morgan] thought it was hilarious, so she wanted to do something cool with it and I knew. It clicked, like, 'Oh, you. I know it's you!'"
Taylor posed for photographs and gave Max and Kenya a handmade card with the 'Blank Space' lyric "So it's gonna be forever" painted on the front in watercolours with a floral circle and the couple were thrilled with her generosity.
Max gushed: "It's really incredible, because not only is she this crazy, huge star who did that for us, but she actually took the time to make something like that. It's really, it's unbelievable, honestly, that a person like her would do that, which just speaks to how amazing a person she is.
And it wasn't just Max who was glad to see Taylor.
He added: "It was all so crazy that it just happened and I don't even know. I was just loving the moment. Everybody was great. We were with all our family and friends. It was perfect. Everybody did their part to make the wedding amazing to start with, and then that, obviously, was the icing on the cake."
Taylor herself shared a number of photos from the day, captioning one of herself with the bride and groom: "Third wheel".
She wrote alongside another: "Congratulations Max and Kenya!!"
