Tatum O'Neal has forgiven her father after years of feuding.
The 54-year-old actress has endured a turbulent relationship with her dad, actor Ryan O'Neal, over the years - but Tatum is happy to draw a line under their disagreements, and hopes they can one day reconcile their differences.
During an appearance on 'Megyn Kelly Today', Tatum told him down the camera lens: "I want to say to my dad, if you're watching this, I love you. I've always loved you and forgiveness is the best policy."
Tatum has had a famously volatile relationship with her father for years.
But the actress - who, like her dad, has previously battled substance abuse - insisted she doesn't harbour a grudge and is instead determined to live a "guilt-free" existence.
She shared: "I don't want to hold on to anger and resentments. I want to have a free, happy and guilt-free life.
"My dad did a lot of good for me and I have to just respect his life and his process. Maybe someday he and I will have a moment where we [reconcile]."
One of Tatum and Ryan's most bizarre fallings out occurred in 2009, when they both attended the funeral for his former partner Farrah Fawcett.
Ryan, 76, admitted to flirting with his daughter - whose mother is Joanna Moore - at the service without realising who she was.
He explained: "I had just put the casket in the hearse and was watching it drive away, when a beautiful blond woman comes up and embraces me.
"I said to her, 'You have a drink on you? You have a car?' She said, 'Daddy, it's me - Tatum!'"
The 'A Bridge Too Far' actor admitted that the surreal incident epitomised their complex relationship.
Ryan - who was estranged from his daughter for years - said: "That's our relationship in a nutshell. You make of it what you will."
