Sutton Foster has split from her husband

The 'Younger' actress has split from Ted Griffin - with whom she has seven-year-old daughter Emily - after almost a decade of marriage and submitted documents to legally end their union in the New York County Supreme Court on Tuesday (22.10.24), People magazine reports.

The former couple married in October 2014, just over a year after getting engaged.

After enduring fertility struggles, the pair adopted Emily as a baby and welcomed her into their home in 2016.

Five years later, the 49-year-old actress - who was previously married to fellow stage star Christian Borle - admitted she had always been "on the fence" about having children.

She told People magazine: "I was always very career-driven, and I had such a tricky relationship growing up with my own mom … It was never clear cut for me.

"I married in my 30s; it didn't last, but one thing it did give me was this little inkling that I wanted to maybe have a family."

However, Sutton's relationship with Ted, 52, changed her outlook completely.

She continued: "When I met my husband, it was the first time that I finally went, 'Oh, I get it. I understand why people have families.' "

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tony award-winning star reflected on how Emily was "thriving" because they were "all together" all of the time.

She said: "It's the first time that we've all been together for this amount of concentrated time without one of us traveling or having to leave for work every day.

"Especially breakfast and dinner. We're all sitting at the table and now my daughter will ask everyone, 'How was your day?' We all like to sit down and talk and we've made it a really important part of our day that we come together as a family."
