The 'Great British Bake Off' host recently revealed she is unable to have children due to a benign tumour on her pituitary gland but hasn't ruled out starting a family.
She said: "One day, maybe, I might be privileged enough to adopt a kid. But I don't know where you find a child.
"There aren't just children wandering around, and if there are you should probably go to a police station. You can't take them into your house. Who knows, every door is open. It's good."
The 46-year-old comedian - who is dating TV presenter Anna Richardson - also admitted she turned down medication when she discovered the tumour.
She told the Daily Mail newspaper: "You assume things about your own biology and you assume things about your own level of capability, and then you find out that they are not quite as you would expect. I could have had gone on medication but in fact I chose not to."
Meanwhile, Sue's 'Bake Off' co-star Mary Berry has described her as "such a brave person".
She said: "I text Sue Perkins as soon as I heard about her brain tumour. She's such a brave person and I know that she will come through this. She and [her 'Bake Off' co-host] Mel [Giedroyc] brighten the lives of everyone they come into contact with."
The 80-year-old star also praised the closeness she has with Sue, Mel and fellow judge Paul Hollywood, admitting Mel reached out to her when she slipped up and revealed which contestant left the show before it had aired.
She added to The Sunday Times newspaper: "I felt terrible when I revealed the 'Bake Off' result recently before the show had aired. I was in Chris Evans' Radio 2 programme early in the morning and let slip the name of the person leaving that week.
"Chris was terribly nice about it and Mel text me to say that it could have happened to anyone. But I couldn't believe how stupid I've been."
