Steve Carell says "everyone" he knows is "a fan" of Ricky Gervais.
The British comedian presented the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (10.01.15) and took swipes at Caitlyn Jenner, Mel Gibson and Ben Affleck as he returned to host the ceremony for the fourth time.
But his 'The Office' co-star has spoken out in support of his pal and rubbished claims that Ricky is clocking up enemies with his cutting remarks in Hollywood.
Asked whether the 54-year-old star is "divisive" Steve, 53, he told The Independent's Radar magazine: "I don't think he is divisive in any way. Everyone I know is a fan."
His comments follow the feud which has sprouted with transgender star Caitlyn - previously known as Bruce - after he referred to the fatal car accident she was involved in, in which one person died.
In response to Ricky's comments, Caitlyn quipped: "I think what I'm going to do is call the Golden Globes and see if they need a new host for next year. We'll solve that problem."
However Ricky, unimpressed, tweeted: "Please, please, please let her host the @goldenglobes. Just don't let her drive."
On Friday (15.01.16), in response to reports that Caitlyn had "broken her silence" he added: "At last. She always brakes too late."
The reality TV star is yet to hit back but did post a video describing her New Years resolutions on Twitter last night saying she wants to "make a difference in the world."
She added: "I don't have any more secrets. They're all out and it's a great way to live your life. So for 2016 I really want to continue that, I want to enjoy life, I want to live authentically. And I really want to make a difference in the world... Our new show starts in March of 2016, I'm really excited for that."
