Stephen Moyer will star in a new broadcast of 'The Sound of Music'.
The 'True Blood' actor has been cast as Captain Von Trapp in the live version of the show, which will air on NBC on December 5.
Carrie Underwood was previously cast as Maria, the young governess who Von Trapp falls in love with.
The three-hour production will be based on the original 1959 Broadway production of 'The Sound of Music', which starred Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel.
The family friendly role will be a departure for the 43-year-old actor, who is best known for starring on raunchy vampire show 'True Blood' although Stephen previously admitted he doesn't worry about filming nude scenes for the US TV drama because he is too busy planning what he will eat afterwards.
He said: "The naked aspect is part and parcel of the show. And honestly, when I'm doing a sex scene, all I think about is the food I'm going to eat after the scene is finished.
"Everybody has to starve themselves so if they put the sex scene after lunch, it's a f***ing nightmare. Believe me, there's nothing exciting about doing those scenes."
Stephen - who plays vampire Bill Compton opposite his wife Anna Paquin, 31, as Sookie Stackhouse - also claims he wasn't worried about his first meeting with Anna's mother, Mary, even though she had seen his and Anna's naked sex scenes.
He said: "Was it weird that Anna's mum had obviously seen a lot of me before we met? Well, I don't know. I didn't ask Mary that."
