Federal investigators are reportedly weighing up whether they can prosecute Stephen Belafonte on weapons charges.
The home of Mel B's estranged husband in the Hollywood Hills was searched by criminal investigators on Friday (31.03.17) and although agents did not find a gun, they did uncover an empty shell casing and a bullet that was out of the casing.
Stephen, 41, is prohibited from possessing either a gun or ammunition, after being convicted of domestic violence back in 2003.
And while neither of the items uncovered at Stephen's home is a projectile, the US Attorney in Los Angeles is reviewing the case for possible prosecution, according to TMZ.
In the event of being charged and convicted of illegal possession of a firearm, Stephen could face up to 10 years in prison.
The potential prosecution comes amid claims from his wife - who has five-year-old daughter Madison with Stephen, as well as two other children by different fathers - that he beat her, got their nanny pregnant and forced her to have threesomes during their 10-year marriage.
However, Stephen has denied all the allegations against him, saying he has been left "distraught" by her accusations.
He recently said: "I haven't heard these allegations. You know what my comment on this is, as this is the mother of my children? I'm really really distraught in my brain by how this is going to affect our children and the depths that she's gone to. I'm shocked at those allegations and that's what it is. I think someone's set me up to look like a bad guy. Obviously you saw my house got raided and nobody found anything.
"It's accusation after accusation. But we'll have our day in court. And we have children. if anyone knows our children, we have beautiful children. They're on social media. Why do this? We were friends two weeks ago. And now all of a sudden the team gets around and now it's got to be this."
