The 77-year-old actress had become such a well-known face through her long-running role as Erica Kane on the ABC soap opera 'All My Children' by the mid-1980s that when she attended a concert given by the 'Material Girl' hitmaker, the show had to be held back so she could meet fans.
She told UsWeekly: "During my first Madonna concert, security surrounded me while we were waiting for it to start. They held the show so they could clear the fans around me waiting for autographs!"
Meanwhile, the former 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant played Erica from 1970 until the soap opera's cancellation in 2011 and her character is widely considered to be one of the greatest in US television but she revealed that the "proudest" moment of her career was when she was cast in a Broadway production of classic musical 'Annie Get Your Gun' in 1999 as a replacement for former 'Smash' actress Bernadette Peters.
She said: "My proudest career moment was making my Broadway debut in the revival of Irving Berlin’s' Annie Get Your Gun'. My first job was [as] a volunteer candy striper in a Long Island hospital. My first paying job was [as] a waitress at the Garden City Hotel during my freshman year of college."
Susan recently admitted that despite finding success with the ABC soap opera, she initially thought people would "hate" her on-screen alter-ego.
She told Parade magazine: “I never thought the audience was going to love her as much as I did.
"There were five callbacks.
“If you only had blue eyes, if you had dark eyes but you had blonde hair, if you weren’t so ethnic looking.”
