Snoop Dogg thinks of Quincy Jones as his "musical father".
The 43-year-old rap star has revealed he's turned to the 82-year-old record producer - who heavily influenced the early work of Michael Jackson - as he searches for the next step in his career.
Asked what is left for him to achieve in the music industry, Snoop said: "I had a long talk with Quincy Jones about this just a week ago. He's like my musical father.
"There are some things that I want to do musically that I think will change the face of the game. I can't tell you what they are yet, but just know and understand that we've been talking for a lot of years. And lately, those conversations have gotten deep."
Meanwhile, Snoop also revealed he's been offering advice to 27-year-old rapper Kendrick Lamar, who recently released his third studio album 'To Pimp a Butterfly'.
Snoop told the New York Post newspaper: "I told him to always challenge himself and be willing to listen. Always put yourself on a level where you're eye-to-eye with everybody. Never play bigger than anybody because you never know when it's gonna be over.
"He grew up watching his West Coast O.G.s, like Ice Cube, Eazy-E and Snoop Dogg. He had a pretty good blueprint to work with, and that's why he's doing it so well."
