Snooki has defended Kim Kardashian's pregnancy weight gain.

The former 'Jersey Shore' star hit back at criticism of her fellow reality TV star and singer Jessica Simpson, who she feels were chastised for putting on the pounds while expecting their children.

Snooki, who is mother to 16-month-old son Lorenzo, wrote in her new book 'Baby Bumps': "Just look at how Jessica Simpson and Kim Kardashian were tracked and criticised in the media. Awful! Worrying about weight gain made the nine months even harder. The one bright spot of pregnancy was eating whatever you wanted."

The 26-year-old star suffered from anorexia as a youngster and worried about gaining weight while pregnant with her son, but she soon learned to embrace the experience despite tabloid scrutiny.

She wrote: "So much is made in the media about celebrity pregnancy weight gain. Some women have been mocked cruelly for it. Tabloid monitoring of how fast women lose the baby weight is practically a blood sport. If you weren't on the cover of In Touch [magazine] in a bikini within two months of giving birth to talk about your salsa workout, you were a fat, lazy loser."

Snooki rapidly lost 42lbs after giving birth to her son in August 2012, while Kim lost 50lbs in the months after giving birth to daughter North in June.
