The 'X Factor' supremo loves his three dogs - Squiddly, Diddly and Freddy - so much that he won't allow them to take a commercial flight when he travels between his London and Los Angeles homes.

A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "The dogs are Simon's children - and he treats them as such.

"He refuses to ditch the dogs in kennels at home, and won't shove them in a Boeing 747 hold where they would be terrified and alone.

"He wants Squiddly, Diddly and Freddie to enjoy their travel jaunts as much as him - and that means only the best."

The dogs are reportedly afforded their own reclining white leather seats, as well as Icelandic mineral water and organic, sugar-free choc drops.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Simon - who has four-year-old son Eric with his partner Lauren Silverman - has helped save over 200 dogs in South Korea.

The 59-year-old TV star donated $32,000 to the Humane Society International (HSI) and the money helped the organisation fund a rescue operation at a dog meat farm in Gyeonggi-do, while his fame also had an "impact" in raising awareness of the issue.

Wendy Higgins, HSI's director of international media, said: "His support helped financially but also in raising awareness. We met people in South Korea who has heard of his donation and it really had an impact."

South Korea currently has around 17,000 dog meat farms, but HSI is hoping to shut down as many as it can.

The organisation is also hoping to get the country's government involved in a bid to eradicate the industry.
