Simon Cowell didn't realise how powerful his electric bike was until he had an accident.
The 61-year-old music mogul broke his back while riding the "crazy" vehicle last summer and he's now realised it wasn't the best choice of transport for him because it was more like a motorbike than a traditional bicycle.
He said: "First of all I bought a crazy, crazy bike. It’s got pedals, the one I had the accident on but it’s not what I’d call an e-bike, the one I had was basically a motorcycle with an electric engine where you’ve got to wear leathers, a crash helmet, don’t be on the road, go off road, this thing was nuts.
"I didn’t know how powerful it was until I got on it and flew 6, 8 ft in the air and landed on my spine."
Simon was spotted over the weekend riding another electric bike but he insisted it's much safer.
He told TMZ: This one I was riding at the weekend was a different kind, you have to pedal and put the power on gently.
"I’d say to anyone buying an electric bike, buy one you have to pedal and put the power on gently, don’t get the one I had before."
The 'X Factor' boss - who has seven-year-old son Eric with girlfriend Lauren Silverman went to the store to buy a magazine while out on his new bike at the weekend and was stunned when one publication in particular caught his eye.
Brandishing a copy of the magazine, he said: "I see this magazine on the rack, what’s on the front cover? The bike I broke my back on. It was the weirdest thing."
Despite his accident, Simon was spotted on vacation over Christmas enjoying one of his favourite pastimes, jet skiing, but he admitted he defied doctors orders to do so.
He said: "Before I went away on the holiday my surgeon said to me, ‘Can you promise me one thing, will you not go jet skiing?’ I said, ‘Of course I won’t’.
"There was one day I went on the jet ski so I sent him a picture and just said, 'Oops'."
