Simon Cowell's pregnant girlfriend has assured his female friends that she has no ulterior motives.
New York socialite Lauren Silverman has reportedly been trying to ease the tension between her and 'The X Factor' boss's extremely protective ex-girlfriends Sinitta and Jackie St Clair, as well as his ex-fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy.
A source told the Sunday mirror newspaper: "It was a nice try by Lauren but she'll have to try harder. She can't just come in and expect to be everybody's best friend, not when Simon's girlfriends have known him for years before she was even on the scene.
"They all care about him and want to protect him - and they're still sceptical about her - motives. She's trying to keep her enemies close."
Simon, who recently admitted he loves Lauren and the fact she will give birth to their first child in February, previously hit back at reports suggesting the newly divorced beauty, 36, is only interested in his fame and fortune.
He said: "I obviously can't blame the media - it was kind of what I call a juicy story. But there was a lot of stuff that was said about her: that she trapped me and that she's a gold-digger. It's absolute nonsense."
Last month Lauren reached an amicable settlement with her ex-husband Andrew Silverman, who filed for divorce after learning of her affair with Simon, which allegedly began four years ago, and they decided to share joint custody of their son, Adam, seven.
