Simon Cowell wants to get two new dogs, the animal lover has decided he wants to adopt two pooches when he gets back to his home in Los Angeles after he completes his current work commitments in London.

Writing on Twitter Simon Cowell says: "I am going to get two dogs when I get back. Probably cairn terriers. If any rescue shelters have some who need a home let me know."

''I love dogs, I love animals and I really like Ashleigh. They deserve it. That dog will become the most famous dog in the world.''

Perhaps Simon wants to get some pets before the birth of his first child with his girlfriend, American socialite Lauren Silverman, to make his house more family friendly.

The 53-year-old star has often spoken about his love for animals and was thrilled in 2012 when Ashleigh Butler and her performing dog Pudsey were crowned the winners of TV show 'Britain's Got Talent'.

He said at the time: ''I love dogs, I love animals and I really like Ashleigh. They deserve it. That dog will become the most famous dog in the world.''

Simon even created British TV series 'That Dog Can Dance' to find more talented canines.

Meanwhile, it has been reported Simon and Lauren are expecting a son together.

The 'X Factor' boss and his newly divorced girlfriend - who already has a seven-year-old son, Adam, with her ex-husband Andrew Silverman - are thrilled that they are set to welcome a little boy into the world in February.

A source close to the couple told the New York Daily News newspaper's Confidenti@l column: "He is over the moon to be having a son."
