Seth Meyers has been awarded a refund from Uber for the car he never took to the hospital when his wife went into labour.
The 44-year-old 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' host welcomed his second child - a son named Axel Strahl - with wife Alexi Ashe at the weekend, and previously spoke about how the child was born in their apartment lobby after they ran out of time to get Alexi to the hospital.
Seth - who also has son Ashe Olson, two, with his wife - had booked an Uber to take them to the hospital which was waiting outside when the plans changed, and jokingly called out the driver whilst on his talk show on Monday (09.04.18) after they charged him for the ride he never took.
He said at the time: "F**k the Uber driver who charged me."
But now, it has been revealed by an Uber spokesperson that Seth will see the return of his fare.
Speaking to The Blast, the spokesperson said: "We are so happy for Seth and Alexi on the birth of their second child. We refunded the trip and are sending them our best wishes."
It comes after Seth recalled the hectic events of his wife's labour on his talk show, as he revealed they were almost in the car before Alexi said the baby was already on its way.
He said: "I thought we had plenty of time to get to the hospital, so my sister-in-law she comes to look after Ashe, [our midwife] joins us and the four of us get in the elevator and my wife is in an intense amount of pain and it seems like now is just one long contraction, so we get into the lobby of our building - I have called an Uber which is outside - and we basically get to the steps of our building. We're in the lobby and we're walking down the steps and my wife just says, 'I can't get in the car, the baby is coming.'
"So we walk back in and we had to decide, do we go into the lobby or into the elevator - those are terrible options when what you're looking for is a hospital! I called 911 and over the course of a minute conversation, I said, 'We're about to have a baby - we're having a baby - we had a baby!'"
