Samia Ghadie had a breast infection last month.
The 'Coronation Street' actress was put on an emergency dose of antibiotics after she stopped breastfeeding her five-month-old son Yves, whom she has with her fiance Sylvain Longchambon, and developed a nasty case of mastitis as a result of a blocked milk duct.
She explained: "I stopped breastfeeding about three weeks ago so I'm just feeling normal again. I did four months but then I got mastitis in one of my breasts.
"It was awful. I started to try and drop Yves' feeds and substitute them with a bottle as I'm starting back at work but because I did that my milk ducts got blocked and that caused a breast infection. "
The 33-year-old star feared for her life when her midwife warned her that, if left untreated, the medical condition could lead to an abscess and then may need urgent surgery to remove the pus-filled boil.
She said: "I am a worrier and I'm obsessed with Google, so I Googled it. Then I rang the midwife who told me to get to the doctors. She said if it went undiagnosed I could develop an abscess and that might lead to me needing surgery."
Samia - who also has daughter Freya, six, with her ex-husband Matt Smith - spent 10 days with frozen cabbages stuck to her swollen boob and has now made a full recovery.
She added to OK! magazine: "It was really painful. I had shooting pains in my breasts so I spent ten days with frozen cabbage leaves on my boobs!"
