Sam Smith admits it has been a "big shock to the system" returning to the spotlight.
The 'Too Good At Goodbyes' singer recently made his musical comeback after over a year away from public life and he has found it to be a big adjustment stepping back into the limelight and being scrutinised again.
He told BANG Showbiz: "It's actually awful [coming back] I've lived the most private life ever over the last year and half. It's a big shock to the system to have to get back into that mind zone of staying away from that because I hate that and I don't want to cause any problems.
"But hell no, I go out. Just need to go out in the right places but need to still figure things out myself."
The 25-year-old singer isn't the only big chart star to have made a comeback this year, as Taylor Swift has also ended her hiatus, and Sam is a big fan of her single 'Look What You Made Me Do' and the accompanying video.
Speaking at the sixth annual Virgin Holidays Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar, at London's Roundhouse on Thursday (12.10.17), he said: "[Her comeback is] great. I want to know how much that music video cost to make. It's unbelievable to watch."
Sam - who was recently seen smooching '13 Reasons Why' star Brandon Flynn - was joined at the annual awards ceremony by the likes of McFly's Harry Judd and Tom Fletcher, Pixie Lott, Charli XCX, Nadine Coyle and Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall.
Tom Daly hosted the event, and those honoured included Kylie Minogue with the Legend Award, and Erasure, with the Icon Award.
Prince Harry was in attendance to pick up the Legacy Award for his late mother Princess Diana, who was recognised for her ground-breaking HIV/Aids activism.
