Sam Smith admits he "could change" his mind about taking a year off.
The 'Writing's On The Wall' hitmaker, who recently announced he is planning to take a break from music in 2016 to focus on his love life, isn't sure how long he will be able to stay away from the recording studio.
The 23-year-old singer said: "It's actually a really recent decision. This could change. I change my mind all the time, but I kind of decided a few months ago that I need to have a little bit of a break."
Asked why he wants to take a hiatus, the British singer, who is currently single, explained he needs some new inspiration and told 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show': "My music is so personal and I need to live my life. I basically need to kiss some more boys so I can write some songs.
"I need to go and make the stories so I can write about them."
Sam underwent surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Centre to repair his damaged vocal cords last May and was forced to spend weeks in silence. While he made a full recovery from his operation, the Grammy winner is currently battling a throat infection.
Sharing his misery with fans via Instagram, he wrote: "Feeling very sorry for myself. Throat Glands are so f**king big. Feel like I have a tennis ball down my throat (sic)"
