Ryan Reynolds has led tributes to “gracious and funny” Alex Trebek.

The 80-year-old television host sadly passed away over the weekend following a battle with cancer, and Ryan took to social media after the news was announced to pay tribute to the ‘Jeopardy!’ host, who will make a posthumous cameo appearance in Ryan’s upcoming movie, ‘Free Guy’.
Ryan tweeted: “Alex Trebek was kind enough to film a cameo for our film Free Guy last year despite his battle. He was gracious and funny. In addition to being curious, stalwart, generous, reassuring and of course, Canadian. We love you, Alex. And always will.”
Alongside Ryan, the likes of John Legend, Viola Davis, and Ellen Degeneres also posted on social media to remember the TV legend.
John wrote: “I was obsessed with Jeopardy as a nerdy kid growing up in Ohio. I’ve loved and revered Alex Trebek since I can remember. What an iconic career. RIP Alex Trebek.”
Whilst Viola called Alex “a true, true gentleman and courageous hero”, and Ellen posted: “Alex Trebek hosted Jeopardy for 36 years. What an incredible career and remarkable life. I’m sending love to his family and fans.”
Steve Harvey, the host of game show ‘Family Feud’, even admitted Alex was “the classiest game show host of all time”.
He tweeted: “My heart is so sad over the passing of the classiest game show host of all time!!! His style was real to me ...... condolences to his entire family and fans #AlexTrebek (sic)”
Alex’s passing was confirmed by the official ‘Jeopardy!’ Twitter account on Sunday (08.11.20).
They wrote: “‘Jeopardy!' is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends.”
The TV icon - who revealed his cancer diagnosis in 2019 - is survived by his wife Jeanie, and their two children, 30-year-old Matthew and 27-year-old Emily.
