Ryan Reynolds has joked he's only just discovered his second daughter over a year after her birth was one of the "simple joys" in life.

The proud parent welcomed 16-month-old Ines into the world with wife Blake Lively - with whom he also has three-year-old daughter James - in September 2016, and he has left his Twitter followers laughing with a trademark quip about his family.

Taking to social media, he teased: "Nothing better than the simple joys of finding 5 bucks in an old pair of pants, or discovering my wife and I had a second daughter over a year ago. (sic)"

Tongue-in-cheek tweets are nothing new for Ryan or his fans, and he is often seen posting deliberately outrageous messages referencing his family and career.

Last summer, he wrote: "My daughter loves being buried up to her neck in sand at the beach. Her little face lights up when I come back to get her the next day."

However, Ryan - who married Blake in September 2012 - previously explained to ET Online that he does make sure ahead of time that his wife will find the joke funny, rather than get offended by the post.

He admitted: "Some of the ones about our daughter or parenting ones or [with] advice no one should take, I run past her, in case she objects. Otherwise it's mostly stuff done on like, an airplane, flying somewhere."

Meanwhile, it was revealed this week that the star is to produce a movie based on board game Cluedo.

The 41-year-old actor looks set to reunite with his 'Deadpool' writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, with the scribes in talks to pen the forthcoming live-action film.

According to Deadline, the movie will be the first motion picture Reynolds will produce under a new deal between his Maximum Effort company and Twentieth Century Fox, who have penned a three-year first-look deal together.
