Russell Crowe is devastated after his close friend Charlotte Dawson's sudden death.
The 'Noah' star broke down in tears after learning that the Australian television personality and presenter, who had a long history of depression, was found dead at her home in Sydney on Saturday morning (22.02.14) and police are not treating her death as suspicious.
The 49-year-old star also wrote on Twitter: "Charley D...Just don't understand. There's not enough kind souls as it is. Rest in peace. (sic)"
The Oscar-winning actor, who had known the 'Australia's Next Top Model' judge since he was a teenager as they were both raised in New Zealand before moving to Australia, was with his sons, Charles, 10, and Tennyson, seven, and friends at the Sienna Marina restaurant at Finger Wharf, Woolloomooloo in Sydney when he was told of the blonde beauty's death by their mutual friend Jonathan Marshall, according to the Herald Sun newspaper.
Another of Charlotte's friends told Sydney's Daily Telegraph that she had been "in the worst shape emotionally" in recent days.
A security guard found the presenter dead in her apartment building when an estate agent trying to get in touch with the former model asked him to check if she was home.
Another insider said: "She was in very bad shape. Terrible shape."
