Rupert Everett wants to get married.
The 61-year-old star has previously caused a stir by failing to lend his support to gay marriage, but he’s now admitted he likes the idea of tying the knot with Henrique, his partner of 11 years.
He said: “Actually, I wouldn’t mind getting married now. Yes. I’d marry my boyfriend. Although I would only have two or three people to my wedding.”
Rupert even knows he’d like to hold the wedding at his village church in Wiltshire.
He said: “I love ceremonies. I think that’d be sweet.”
And the ‘Adult Material’ star admitted he thinks he’d have to be the one who proposes.
He said: “I mean, I’m the one thinking about it.”
Asked if he’s discussed the idea with the Brazillian accountant, he admitted: “No, he doesn’t know.”
Rupert believes relationships are at their best when they are fluid.
He told the Sunday Times magazine: “And anything that stops it being fluid, even a good holiday, can ruin it because you start matching the tawdriness of next Monday to the fabulousness of the holiday in Tahiti, then you’re on a downhill slalom.”
The ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ actor previously claimed he couldn’t “think of anything worse” than being raised by “two gay dads” and he’s now insisted he thought same-sex couples were “blessed” by not having children and it would be a scenario that ultimately benefitted the planet.
He said: “I thought we were rather blessed and that it would be amazing because in 1,000 years’ time we’d solve the population problem, when there were just two old lesbians and two old queens left and they’d croak, and the planet would go back to normal.”
