The 65-year-old comedian - whose hit sitcom was cancelled earlier this year following a controversial tweet - will appear at the venue alongside Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who previously interviewed Roseanne in the aftermath of her firing and has called for the public to forgive her.

Venue owner Dani Zoldan told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: "She's a stand-up comic at heart. I sympathise with her on that front. That's why I'm allowing this podcast.

"The liberal Upper West Side is not going to be OK with having her on their turf, but we're a comedy club ... We don't censor our comics."

The venue has already arranged to have an increased security presence in preparation for Roseanne's appearance.

Dani explained: "There might be hecklers; if [there are,] they'll be thrown out. We don't want it to get out of hand."

The comedian was abruptly sacked by ABC after she likened Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to former President Barack Obama, to an ape.

Dani admitted he doesn't agree with Roseanne's political views, but he respects her right to express her opinion.

He said: "I don't personally agree with Roseanne's politics, but I do believe in freedom of speech."

Meanwhile, Roseanne recently cancelled a tell-all TV interview, where she was going to discuss the cancellation of her show and the subsequent fallout.

She wrote on Twitter: "After a lot of thought, I decided that I won't be doing any TV interviews, too stressful & untrustworthy 4 me & my fans. I'm going to film it myself & post it on my youtube channel in the next week-the entire explanation of what happened & why! I love you all-sign up & get ready. (sic)"
