Roman Kemp is terrified of getting divorced.
The 27-year-old radio DJ is worried about the idea of getting married and the relationship breaking down because he thinks it would mean he has “failed” his parents, Martin Kemp and Shirlie Holliman.
He told OK! magazine: “The thing I’m most scared of is being with someone and having to get divorced.
“Because that would mean I’ve failed my parents, I’ve failed to build a loving, strong relationship.
“It’s not failing at what my parents have taught me, because the most important thing my parents have taught me is how to love.
“If I can’t get that right, I’ll be really upset.”
But despite his fears, Roman does see marriage and children in his future.
Asked where he sees himself in 10 years, he said: “From a professional point of view, I don’t care as long as I’m happy – that’s all I care about.
“That’s not even necessarily financially, I just want to be happy walking into work every day. And I want to be a dad, I want to be a married man.
“I want to be in a house with kids and dogs. When I think about what I want in the future, I never think about jobs.
“Jobs come and go. If in 10 years time I can have half the amount of family life that my parents have, then I’ll be happy.”
And he joked his parents were able to “mind-f***” him into doing the right thing when he was younger.
He explained: “My mum and dad never disciplined me. They always just said, ‘If you do that, that will let me down as your friend.’ And that’s hard.
“My parents used to mind-f*** into doing the right thing. It empowered me as a kid to make my own decisions.”
